Getting me a ragtop. nothing wrong with that. but the 2nd gen hardtop really knocked one out of the park for styling. good job chevy.

I was just looking at the pictures you posted - car looks pretty good, if a bit worn. Looks like new tires and newer top, and everything else is sitting as it should - have fun!

paint is baked off, some rust and dents but nothing scary. shows 36000
miles.

Perfect acquisition candidate then - good structurally, 4-speed, convertible, but cheap because a) it’s a Corvair and b) doesn’t look that pretty due to the sun baking.
Love that color, too!

that 4 door doesnt have the post(b pillars), and frames that all the cars adopted shortly after...... makes the car look way more interesting.....

Just found this series of posts - congratulations! I had Corvairs (3) for 15 years. Lots of fun.
If you’re driving it far, keep an eye not just on your engine oil (it’s likely leaking from the pushrod tubes) but the transmission (don’t use modern gear lube - it’ll trash the synchros). It’s the second dipstick at the upper right side of the engine in a ‘65. Your transmission and diff share a sump and if either is leaking, you’ll ruin the main bearing in the diff. (Ask how I know....)
Amsoil made a gear lube that was OK for Corvair manual transmissions.
Front wheel bearings are easy to get apart and repack. Rears aren’t.

Cool. I may be hitting you up for more info on the way. What’s a good gear oil for the transaxle? It’s full right now but maybe not after 2,000 miles.

It has to be a GL-4. They will tell you that GL-5 meets the standards for GL-4. That may be true and OK for a lot of cars, but this isn’t one of them.

I’m sure you know all about Clarks, but I’m a huge fan of the Corvair Ranch in PA. Lots of good used parts to be found. California Corvairs is another.
